This Falling Eden: Progress in 2025POSTED APR 19, 2025

The first draft of This Falling Tower is complete. This is the biggest milestone short of publication, and after 13(!) years of writing Spilled Ink >> The Day The Rain Came Back >> This Falling Eden >> This Falling Eden, the trilogy, it feels like reaching the end of a marathon. As a trilogy, This Falling Eden is followed by This Falling Sea and This Falling Tower, all of which are now written. An advantage of this is that I know, in detail, where the story elements are going and what needs to be set up in early chapters. Each book has a slightly different character from the others, but they all gel perfectly together. Praise God!

My plan now is to take a break until August and then start the Third Draft of This Falling Eden. The later two books will remain shelved and my focus will remain on this first book until it is 100% ready for publication, hopefully in the Fourth Draft. The Third should be done by mid-October and will be sent to editors, professional test readers, literary agents (again), and small publishers (for the first time). If I end up self-publishing, I want to release all three novels in the same year. This plan would require the completed This Falling Eden to sit on the shelf for a while as Sea and Tower advance through their own later drafts.

In the interim, there's other stuff to catch up on. My treatment of This Falling Eden as a single work, represented by a single webpage , will now change so Sea and Tower get their own pages on this website. They do not collectively represent my second novel, but my second, third, and fourth. (2009's Caffeine being my first, of course.) The later two books of this trilogy will get their own blurbs and covers, which will compliment the one for Eden so they form a set. Each book should clock in around 90K words, or 250 pages.
