My YouTube channel has really taken off since 2014. The "local bandscan" videos, where I drive to a distant city and record the local stations there
, featured prominently in the rise of my channel. A trip to the 2015 WTFDA convention in Indiana was, appropriately enough, the first interstate road trip where I started recording everything at my hotel stops. I even captured AM and FM radio in addition to TV. Occasionally I could even feature analog TV stations, since a handful of low-power ones hadn't shut down yet.
My autumn drives to New York allowed me to make videos of each market between here and there by the end of 2019. When I was younger I collected TV Guides during road trips, now I collected bandscans, LOL. The scans of AM and FM didn't stay a regular thing, unfortunately, due to abundant LPFMs and the music-heavy nature of the scans (which must be handled carefully on YouTube) turning them into a lot of work.
RRR&R 22, my autumn road trip to Toronto this October, marked the end of this eight year practice. Really, it's the nature of my road trips that's changing. I also want to spend more time on my writing . Toronto is definitely going out on a high note, although Rochester got the title of last out-of-state bandscan... for now. I actually have one more planned that's more appropriate to Florida-based TV DXing. Besides that, though, TV bandscan videos will only continue for the cities of Florida.
Any other markets that want to be featured on my channel can still do so through my good friends Tropo and E-Skip. ha ha
